Punctuated Pilgrimage

lost in a word,
I transitioned to another.
called up by a verb
but stopped by a comma.
wanting to exclaim what's really wrong,
I was left with a semi-colon
to express my given situations.

I took it to a paragraph
making brief sentences with dashes-
omitting various stages.
but the question marks left me hanging with a black mark
and an unnoticed full stop
to show that my journey hasnt started.

Motif

Just as how you initialized it, you  have ended it.
How could I have known that you were the product of a furnace,
the one who came looking for human souls to devour and make your own.
you,
who seemingly walked with the Gods,
but lamented praises to the furnace.

And now, the baptism has begun.
as my eyes sweat daily, waiting to be cleansed in honour of the sun.

Black Destruction

Image result for hands dripping blood

If black lives matter, why is that we entertain the downfall of our own black brothers and sisters. More so, why have we become the roots of their destruction, gnawing away at their systems like rodents? We advocate for equality, but we do not see ourselves as equals. We rather become Babylons, spurring heated blows, instead of being a supportive anchor.

We surely don't need a back to Africa trip to realize what assholes we are. So, we continue to neglect the harms that you've caused our own black brethren.

I hope this makes you into a strong black being since your strengths lie with your brethren's skin.

You will never truly understand such struggles until you have tasted the tired self-inflicted wounds you've created. Then and only then, justice would have been served as the intake of one's own blood, symbolizes rebirth.

Father's Day

Image result for pics of a child crying

I will forever remember the man who allowed me to use his last name, though it didnt belong to neither of us.

This day only brings nothingness to the lives of many "fatherless" persons..  A father only congratulates his child or children through his phenotypic genes.

The only love you ever received, was by watching his shadow; never from him.

Poetry for The Soul

Faithful Incest

Before making me his wife,

I became the daughter he first knew.

The first and only one who wore his name as a crown.

I could tell that I was destined for greatness,

As only I could have renowned the man who once carried me on his back.

Controversy

You could not resist. You couldn’t

Resist the body that made you sin.

The body that made you crave your own skin. The skin

That if it’s touched, you are barred from life.

But how is the skin a source of sin,

When we are all born with

It.

Colour Justice

Image result for black and white hand holding

It is said that the heat makes you do crazy things; and such things I am aware of having lived in the Caribbean for all my life.  Our history is tainted with melanin. As such, it puzzles my brain as to why skin bleaching is at its peak; especially during the summer.

We all desire to become slave masters so badly, that we neglect the honour that comes with being black . By doing this, the bleaching creams have become the savior for the black race as acceptance is only mandatory through skin bleaching. The horrific nature of this is that by being a slave master, you end up being a slave as well. So clearly, you've played the role of a fool twice and re writing history wasn't worth it.
Let's stop deface our black skins, and only then we will re write history. Don't you know that black symbolizes purity and longevity?

If Looks Could Kill

So, while being transported on the bus this morning, a guy was seen on the other side of
the road walking with his hair trapped in the wind.  Right there and then, the bus made a stop and everyone observed the man as he became their specimen. However, I could not tell what the passengers were thinking, but their faces had a bitter look and as such, I knew it wasn't anything positive. Soon as the bus drove off, I bluntly said, " if eyes were meant to kill, then I have just witnessed a homicide." Yes, it was that horrible. People should learn not to stare. Personally, for me, it is just unhealthy.  Our eyes should not be in control all the time. The constant need to pry, stare and loiter has become so dominant. I am not really surprised that the human's eyes have become a brain since that's where thinking and drawing of conclusions all take place.
